About the CFP
The College Football Playoff determines the national champion in college football. At the season’s end, the CFP rankings identify the top 25 teams. The five highest-ranked conference champions plus the next seven teams form a 12-team bracket, with the four top seeds earning a bye in the first round. Teams ranked 5 through 12 compete in the CFP First Round, with higher seeds hosting lower seeds. The Quarterfinals and Semifinals rotate among six bowls—the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, Vrbo Fiesta Bowl, Capital One Orange Bowl, Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, Rose Bowl Game presented by Prudential, and the Allstate Sugar Bowl. The National Championship is scheduled for Monday, January 19, 2026, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. For more details, visit CollegeFootballPlayoff.com.
