Get ready to mark your calendars for 2026 because that's when the buzzworthy MBC drama Perfect Crown will grace our screens! Starring the incredibly popular IU (fresh off her role in the Netflix drama When Life Gives You Tangerines in 2025) and the rising star Byeon Woo-seok (who stole hearts in Lovely Runner in 2024), Perfect Crown promises to be a global sensation. While an exact release date is still under wraps, the anticipation is already building!
So, what's Perfect Crown all about? Imagine modern-day Korea, but with a twist: it's a constitutional monarchy! The series is described as a touching romantic comedy that follows Grand Prince Wan, the nation's beloved royal, as he finds himself entangled in a fierce power struggle within the royal family. To further complicate matters, he's under immense pressure to marry. He then strikes a marriage of convenience with Heeju, the heir to a powerful Korean conglomerate. The two initially plan to use the marriage to advance their own agendas, but as you can imagine, things don't go quite according to plan. Expect plenty of unexpected twists, hilarious misunderstandings, and heartwarming moments as their fake relationship blossoms into something real. This premise may not be entirely unique, but the star power of IU and Byeon Woo-seok alone is enough to get fans excited.
But the good news doesn't stop there! Disney+ also revealed that the upcoming prestige drama Made in Korea has been renewed for a second season before the first season has even aired! Production is already underway, with a targeted release date in 2026. The series stars Korean A-listers Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung, whose appearance on stage at the Hong Kong showcase drew enthusiastic cheers from the audience. The first season of Made in Korea is set to premiere with a special two-episode event on December 24th.
Made in Korea takes place in the turbulent 1970s. The first season centers on Baek Kitae, an ambitious KCIA agent living a dangerous double life.
